About Us
Lochi Lochner was born in the North-west Cape in 1947. Grew up in a conservative home, enjoyed farm school, with great parents and sibling. The Christian principles of love/support/share/ … were a given.
High school and military training in Pretoria. Studied B.Sc. B Mechanical Engineering at University of Stellenbosch and post grad thereafter at UCT. Married Erna Barnard (music teacher) and worked at engineering corporates in Gauteng before retiring in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
Sport achievements: nothing that rewrote the record books, though enough to call himself at least “an experienced has-been”: Track running (middle distances), road running of sorts up to several Comrades marathons and Hundred Miler, paddling of sorts up to several Duzi Canoe marathons, ocean swimming, triathlons of sorts up to several times Iron Man. Above included some podiums at world champs event.
Lost his wife Erna in 2020. Thereafter hospitalized several times for heart-related issues. So, no longer competitive by sports standards, but healthy and still “training” 7 days a week, and ready and keen to impart years of “know-how”
Our Mission
We want to share our accumulated knowledge and personal experiences in certain types of endurance sport. We are not so-called “experts” in these fields, but through personal experiences and achievements, we can add value to, and in some cases unpack the info so freely available from the Internet, from printed media, and from both formal and informal coaches.
If you were to ask us a question to which we do not know the answer, we will simply admit to not knowing, though shared experiences allow all to grow.
Consider this web site as “always in a learning state”, so please feel free to assist us with well received improvements.
Better still: if you were to feel “like-minded”, then please join “us” so you can also support others!
